A first kitchen appointment is not there to settle everything. It is there to lay the right foundations: understanding your space, your habits, your wishes, your constraints and your budget.
Bring what you already have
For a first appointment there is no need to prepare a perfect file. A few things do help: photos of your current kitchen, a floor plan if you have one, some rough dimensions, images that inspire you.
Photos are often the most useful. They show the space, the light, the volumes, the visible constraints and how the kitchen sits within the rest of the interior. There is no point trying to lock everything down from the start: a kitchen project is built step by step.
Talk about how you live
A kitchen is not designed with units and materials alone. It is designed around habits: do you cook every day, do you entertain often, do you need a lot of storage, would you rather the kitchen were open or more discreet?
Two kitchens of identical size can be designed very differently depending on the household and its rhythm. The right project is not the one with the most options ticked: it is the one that best answers your daily life.
Be clear about budget
Budget is not always the easiest subject to raise, but it is worth doing early. It is not there to limit the project: it is there to steer it properly, and to make sensible trade-offs between the different elements.
Good advice does not mean pushing towards the most expensive option. It means helping you put the budget where it counts.
Use the showroom to picture it
Images help, but they do not replace seeing the materials, touching the fronts, comparing the finishes, opening the storage. Some decisions change once you see things for real.
The showroom also helps you work out what genuinely suits you, and spot the materials that speak to you as well as those that do not match how you will use the kitchen.
Accept that the project will evolve
A kitchen project often changes between the first appointment and the final version, and that is normal. A technical constraint may shift the layout; a priority may change once you start comparing possibilities.
